Royal Mail had thousands of a handhelds in the field that were experiencing a large number of strap failures. They asked Intermec to design a new strap for their existing handhelds.
Example of the problem that Royal Mail needed solved. The straps were braking, stretching and wearing out. Instead of replacing them Royal Mail carriers were coming up with unique "bandaid solutions" in the field.
The process for removing the straps involved first removing the battery, then unsrewing two screws, pulling the worn strap out, placing the metal hoops from the new strap in while you re-screw the strap without pinching the wire.
